Yorkshire Day
Happy Yorkshire Day!
Celebrating all things Yorkshire here at Robert & Victoria as we pay tribute to the UK's largest county. The annual celebration held on 1st August is a day of pride and recognition of the of the region's rich cultural heritage, beautiful landscapes and unique traditions. Yorkshire truly is a remarkable and diverse county with so much to offer. From its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant cities steeped in history to its intricate and iconic landmarks, there's plenty to love about Yorkshire.
The Yorkshire Day collection showcases our favourite items that draw inspiration from historical landmarks such as the infamous Whitby Abbey, the magnificent cathedral known simply as York Minster and the symbolic white Tudor rose.
The stunning pieces of jewellery are hand-crafted in our workshops using only the finest Whitby Jet gemstone; sourced from the Northeast coast of Yorkshire. Whitby Jet is formed from the fossilized remains of the Araucaria tree, which grew in the region approximately 180 million years ago. Over time, the wood was subjected to immense pressure and transformed into the hard, black material we now know as Whitby Jet.
Used for centuries in jewellery and decorative arts; Whitby Jet holds both historical and cultural significance, you simply can't celebrate Yorkshire without celebrating Whitby Jet.
