Of course, we have to start with our beloved Whitby Jet, naturally found along the North Yorkshire coastline, which Whitby proudly sits in the middle. Explore the Ruins of Whitby Abbey
Climb the 199 steps to reach the spectacular ruins of Whitby Abbey that proudly sits high upon the clifftop keeping a watchful eye on the town. Immediately take a rest and enjoy the breathtaking sea view before discovering the vast history of the Abbey, which spans over 2000 years. It was the atmospheric feel of the ruins that dominate the East Cliff headland that inspired Bram Stoker to write the gothic horror novel, Dracula. No trip to Whitby would be complete without sampling the finest fish and chips! The award winning tasty supper is like no other and after a full day of sightseeing, it’s the perfect takeaway treat whilst you enjoy the view of the harbour. Discover the Famous British Explorer, Captain Cook
Find out everything there is to know about the Whitby legend Captain Cook. He lived in our charming seaside town for a while as a trainee for a local shipping firm. In fact, the house where he stayed is now home to the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, where you can get to know the adventurer much better.
